About

Our story

I have played classical piano for over 32 years, and have been teaching for over 15 years. I was classically trained by Dr. Donald Beatti, Dr. Tom Stampli, Mrs. Sees, and others. I have played along side some of the greats of our time, Stephan Moller of Austria and Robert Roo of Texas to name a few. I competed in and won countless gold medals in both national and international piano competitions. I began Finley Piano Studio in 2009 with the goal of passing the love and art of music through piano on to the next generation. I firmly believe in teaching to the student and their specific needs and skills. I pride myself in my ability to be a chameleon in my teaching styles to accommodate each student and their specific learning needs. In May of 2019 I launched the studio’s student/teacher program. I have successfully trained three teachers, one of which is now a full time teacher in our studio and the other two have gone on to start their own studios in other cities. My hope is to continue teaching students who develop such a love of music they choose to continue their musical journey either for personal enjoyment, through pursuing a college career in music, by selecting to become a teacher, or pursuing a professional performance career. It is my hope that I can continue inspiring a new generation to learn and love music!

Performances

We believe performances should showcase each individual student’s talent while also showing them the possibilities of performing. We offer two performance opportunities each year: a Christmas Performance as well as a Spring Performance. We strive to offer new locations for the performances yearly to show the students different performing opportunities in music. Some of our performances in the past have included: The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, The Barrel Room, The Paddock Coffee Shop, The Shelbyville Community Theater as a dinner theater performance, Red Orchard Barn Venue, the Gatsby Event Space, and many others. We also work directly with students who have an interest in performing by establishing additional performance opportunities throughout the year.
